Femidom (female condom) is known as one of the barrier methods in birth control. It can be said to be in the form of a pouch or sheath with an average length of 15 cm. The female condom is placed inside the vagina before sexual intercourse. The part of this sheath inside the vagina is closed. The other end is open. At the same time, there is a hard and easily bendable ring at both ends.
The ring at the closed end keeps the condomin place. The ring on the open side protects the perineum and the root of the penis. It also prevents the condom from escaping into the vagina. Depending on the material in the condom's structure, it softens immediately after placement and adheres to the vaginal wall. The inside of the femidome is covered with a silicone lubricant. It also does not contain spermicides that kill sperm.

It covers the inner surface of the entire vagina from the very tip of the external genitalia and extends upwards. By covering the uterus, it provides protection from sexually transmitted diseases and sperm.
How to Attach Femidom?
How to Insert Femidom? The ring at the closed end is bent with the middle, index and thumb fingers and inserted into the vagina. Then it is pushed to the end with the index finger. It is necessary to make sure that the condom is not twisted around itself. The outer part prevents contact of the genital areas during intercourse. It is more protective against genital warts than a male condom.

When the femidom (female condom) is torn, emergency contraception should be applied. The morning-after pill should be taken within the first 72 hours or IUD should be inserted within 5 days.
