Family Planning

The answer to the question of what is family planning is very important. Because especially in developing countries and low-middle income countries, half of the women of reproductive age do not want children, but millions of them get pregnant without planning or wanting to. And these pregnancies are tried to be terminated with abortion or many other methods that we do not recommend. In addition to the stress and sadness it creates in women, it can also result in infections, uterine adhesions, inability to have children again, and sad events that can even lead to death. Family planning helps in this regard.

What is Family Planning?

The purpose of family planning is not to end unwanted pregnancies, but to prevent unwanted pregnancies and to help couples ensure that desired pregnancies occur in a healthy, planned manner, at the appropriate time and environment.

What is the Benefit of Family Planning?

Thanks to family planning, you have the opportunity to determine the course of your marriage, life and career.

The benefits of family planning can be listed as follows;

  • It saves your life. It prevents frequent and multiple pregnancies and prevents diseases that may occur due to pregnancy and birth.
  • It ensures that mothers and children are healthier.
  • It provides fewer children and more time and budget for each child.
  • It allows postponing pregnancy and allows young women to continue school.

What Should Be the Earliest Age for Pregnancy?

Getting pregnant under the age of 18, which is the legal age, is not recommended both psychologically and physiologically.

How Long Should the Minimum Interval Between Two Births Be?

The interval between two births should be at least 2 years. At least 2 years should be waited for the uterus and body to recover.

How Many Cesarean Births Can Be Performed at Most?

It would not be right to state a definite number. It is risky after the second cesarean. However, according to the general opinion, it is not recommended to get pregnant after 2 cesarean births due to the increase in placental adhesion anomalies and surgical complications after three cesareans. Family planning is of great importance at this point.

Which Family Planning Method is the Most Effective?

When doing family planning, I prefer to educate my clients after getting answers to some questions and make a choice together, these questions are;

  • How old are you?
  • Do you want to have children?
  • Do you want to protect yourself from pregnancy?
  • Do you have a child?
  • When was the last time you gave birth?
  • Are you breastfeeding?
  • Are you in the first 6 months after giving birth?
  • Do you have a known disease?
  • Do you want a permanent method, do you plan to have children in the future?
  • Have you received family planning training before? Have you used any methods for birth control? What have you used?
  • Have you talked to your partner? Does your partner support you?
  • Do you also want to be protected from sexually transmitted diseases?

It would be best to provide more detailed information according to the answers to these questions and choose the method that is most suitable for you.
